Why Must They Even Look Evil?

There's this great passage in the Book of Mormon where the Lord strikes the evildoers by turning their very visages "dark (and) loathsome" (that Joseph Smith apparently didn't have a thing for the fine black ladies). It seems that the Lord these days chooses to leave his mark as pale and loathsome, but the effect is the same:

Roy Blunt's spokeswoman, Burson Taylor, sings the refrain: "While we firmly believe the contributions were legal at the time of receipt, the plea indicates that such contributions may not have been given in the spirit in which they were received." Oh my golly! How did this happen!
