Best. Catholic. Quote. Ever.
The Catholic Action League Executive Director C.J. Doyle, on why Catholic Charities in Massachusetts shouldn't have to help married gay couples adopt:
'No religious agency should be forced to act against its principles in the name of charity.'
Heh.

Not sure what's to be found humerous in that statement. Charities, by their nature, are organizations with an established goal and leave the giver to decide how his money will be spent.
???
You're right, but just going by how the statement is phrased, it sounds as though they are creating an opposition or conflict of interests between "their principles" and "charity," whereas one would think that charity would be prominent among their principles.
